Cross base and stocks. Medieval and later. Gritstone. Cross base: 3 steps
surmounted by square socket stone for cross shaft (missing). Overall height
approximately 1.5 metres. The riser of the top step, south side, carries
the crudely cut inscription 'PALLISER' and on the step below 'THE TAILOR'.
William Palliser was a former stonemason who had a shop in Parliament
Street, Harrogate c1890. Stocks adjacent on right: 2 stone shafts
approximately 1.2 metres high, slightly splayed at the bases, with grooves
on internal faces. The wooden rail with 2 leg holes inserted since 1962.
