4/20 Sundial in garden
approximately 5 metres
south of the Old
Parsonage

GV II

Sundial. Early-mid C19. Gritstone. Circular base with square block above;
bulbous vase baluster with roll moulding at the neck. The cap stone and
bronze gnomon, inscribed "JOHN MOORE & SONS Clerkenwell London", possibly
replacements. Similar to the dial in the churchyard of St Judes, Hartwith-
cum-Winsley (qv) dated 1826, and a slimmer version in the graveyard of Dacre
Providence Chapel (qv) dated 1828.
