House and added cottage, now 3 dwellings. C17 with late C18-early C19 cottage.
Coursed squared stone, stone slate roofs. 2 storeys; 2 bays with through
passage, cross wing on left, wing projecting from rear left and cottage
(No 2) added to rear right. Windows are single-chamfered mullioned to lst
floor of main range, otherwise double-chamfered mullioned. South front,
main range: on left of right bay a half-glazed door in chamfered quoined
surround with deep lintel. To left a small 2-light fire window and beyond
that an 8-light (now 4-light) window with king mullion under dripmould with
heartstop on right and left stop removed. To right of door a 2-light window
with mullion removed and a similar window converted to a doorway, under
continuous dripmould with heartstops. On lst floor two 3-light windows
to each bay, left pair with renewed mullions, right pair without mullions
and with cemented cills. Shaped kneeler and coping to right; ridge stack.
Crosswing: a 5-light, now 2-light window with door inserted to right and
a 4-light, now 2-light, window above; gable coping; ridge stack. Rear: through-
passage doorway has chamfered, quoined, surround; inserted window above.
Wing projecting to right of this has added porch, renewed flat-faced mullions
to ground-floor window, 2 inserted windows above and gable coping; in its
right return is a gutter spout; in is left return a 6-light window, mullions
removed and replaced as a 5-light window, under dripmould with a circle
and a heartstop and above it a 4-light, now 2-light, window. Crosswing
has added outshut and former 3-light window above. Cottage projecting on
left has added privy range (not of special interest) with a blocked light
to right and 2-light flat-faced mullion window above; eaves stack on right.
Left return (crosswing): a 5-light flat-faced mullion window to ground floor;
4-light window above. Right return: main range has ground-floor windows
of 4 lights (mullions removed) and 2 lights under decoratively-stopped hoodmould
and a lst-floor window of 4 round-arched lights. Cottage on right has quoins,
C20 door in plain stone surround to right of flat-faced mullion window (mullions
removed) with similar 5-light, now 3-light, window above. Interior not
inspected.
