House, possibly former refectory, and attached remains of church. C15, with
later alterations. C19 brick to ground floor left, and to C19 lean-to addition
to right. Render, probably on timber-framing to ground floor left of centre;
close-studded timber framing with rendered infill to 2-storey porch at right of
centre, and to first floor; C20 plain-tile roof; stone-based lateral stacks to
rear left and centre, each having 2 diagonally-set brick flues; stone-based end
stack to right with 2 diagonally-set brick flues. 2-storey, 4-window range.
2-storey porch to right of centre having plank outer door and 6-panel inner
door. 3-light casements to ground floor left and centre. 4-light casement to
right. First floor of porch jettied. Single-light casements to first floor of
porch, and to left of centre. 3-light casements to first floor left and centre.
2-light casement to right. Left return: close-studded timber timber framing to
ground and first floor. Rear: stone plinth; C19 brick, except close-studded
timber framing to left projection and to first floor of right projection.
Interior: winder staircases from ground to first floors to left and right rear.
Open fireplaces, that to sitting room to ground floor left has moulded stone
surround, that to hall to ground floor centre has chamfered bressumer with ogee
end stops, wood bressumer to kitchen fireplace to ground floor right. Attached
remains of Priory church. Probably C14. Squared random coursed stone; old
plain-tile roof. Single-storey, single-bay range. Tudor-arched doorway to west
end. Interior now converted to dairy. History: The Cistercian Priory of Pinley
was founded by Henry I, and dissolved by Henry VIII.
