J.J. Talbot. Brick with stone dressings, tile roof. 2
storeys, 12-bay centre, left wing of 2 bays, right wing of 8
bays, return wing to right of 2 bays and 2-bay wing to
Riverside. Stone-coped gables with kneelers. Central 2
bays have shaped gables; 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th bays gabled;
end bays have shaped gables; intervening bays have roof
sloping down between gables to form entrance canopies.
Double-chamfered-mullioned windows with leaded glazing,
those to centre and end bays of ground floor of 4 lights
with label moulds, other bays have 5-light canted bay
windows. 1st floor gabled bays have 4-light windows with
label moulds, the central bays have central panel with
escutcheon with date and mantling, 2 small lights above;
other bays have roof dormers with swept segmental gables and
paired 2-light small-paned casements. Elliptical-arched
recesses with paired entrances; 4-panel doors with leaded
lights. 5 cross-axial stacks, 2 with diagonal shafts. Left
wing similar with gabled half-dormers, and lateral stack
with diapering; return has shaped gable and canted oriel
with ogival copper roof and gable-end stack. Right wing
similar, central 2 gabled bays, end shaped gables, return
has tall 1st floor window. Return wing similar, 2 canted
bays with ogival roofs and 2 gables, return has shaped
gables and entrances. Return to Riverside is similar, 2
gables and windows of 2 and 4 lights. Rear similar, tile-
hung gables and flat-topped half-dormers, rear stacks and
privies.
