TM 48 SE WRENTHAM SOUTHWOLD ROAD
6/89 No.86 (Wrentham House)
- (formerly listed as
27/11/54 Wrentham House)
- II
House. Early C19 facade with C20 alterations and additions; probably C18
core. Red brick with pale yellow brick facade, formerly colourwashed. Hipped
pantiled roof. 3 storeys with single storey flanking wings, very slightly set
back. Symmetrical 3-bay facade: sash windows with glazing bars in flush
frames under flat brick arches; the windows once had paired shutters. Porch
added c.1923: fluted pilasters, triglyph frieze, cornice; inset C19 panelled
door and plain rectangular fanlight, panelled reveals. The wings have
matching square bays, probably contemporary with the porch. The main block
has a wooden eaves cornice: this replaced stone balustrading which still
survives on the wings.
