Farmhouse. C16 or early C17 and C19. Timber framed with brick
noggings on greensand rubble sills, and some brickwork. Treble
roll pantiled roof replacing thatch 1979. Single storey and attic,
4 bays, comprising a kitchen bay to right, divided 2 main living
bays by a back-to-back stack, and raised with gables to north
front, and a fourth C19 bay added at left end. Framing has heavy
bressumer, 2 panels below, one above, corner braces to rear only.
Wall plate oversailing and chamfered. Entrance now to rear in
kitchen bay, now dining room. C19 and early C20 timber casement
windows. The framing is numbered from west. C19 bay is of
colourwashed brick with a lower pitched roof. Main roof half
hipped to right. Stone stack, rebuilt at top in brick.
Interior: Central spine beam with bar stopped chamfers, and timber
fire lintel in open stone stack, formerly with oven. Upper floor
and roof not seen, may be of interest.
