Farmhouse, c.1600. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell_lobby-entrance plan. Timber-
framed and plastered; C20 herringbone pargetting in panels. At both ends the
gable tie-beam oversails. Pantiled roof with good original axial chimney of
red brick: 3 flues of flattened hexagonal form, each with moulded base. The
plinth has a plastered diamond-shaped recess once perhaps containing the date
of construction. Mainly mid C20 casements; a few at 1st storey of C19. Half-
glazed C20 door at lobby entrance position. An ovolo-moulded 1st floor beam
in the parlour. Chamfered attic floor joists, laid flat. 2-tier butt-purlin
roof, the upper tier wind-braced. (Roof over hall and service cells rebuilt
mid C20). Associated with partial mediaeval moat.
