Farmhouse, mid C17 with mid C19 alterations. 2-cell lobby-entrance plan. 2
storeys and atics. Timber-framed, mainly encased in mid C19 red brick; some
plastered walling to rear. Pantiled roof (formerly thatched); an axial C17
chimney of red brick. Mid C19 sashes with flat arches of gauged brick; border
panes. Mid C19 porch at lobby-entrance position, with crowstepped gabled
pantiled roof, hood-moulded doorway and panelled door with border-pane
glazing. Some typical mid C17 framing exposed: jewelled chamfer stops to main
beams, a set of reused mid C16 floor joists with broad chamfers. Side-purlin
roof: the purlins are butted, reduced and staggered. A lower rear wing of 2
storeys is probably an C18 dairy. A late C19 2-storey extension to right.
