II
House, c1840-50, remodelling of early C19 quarry cottages. Ashlar
with fishscale tiled roofs and coped gables. Moulded Tudor-style
ashlar stacks. l½ storeys, T-plan. Three-window west front has
centre half-glazed door in ashlar porch, flat-topped with
hoodmould. Margin-glazed French windows each side with matching
heavy hoodmould. First floor has three small-paned two-light
mullion windows with heavy stone shelf on corbels between. Over
each window an ashlar raised coped gable with quatrefoil plaque.
South end has similar window each floor and blank loop each side of
upper window. Range to right shows blocked doors of former
cottages. Three similar ground floor French windows with
hoodmoulds, three 2-light windows above, but only centre window
with gable over. Parallel north range.
