6/285 The Bothy at Trowle House
GV II
Small cottage, now stores. Late C17. Random rubble stone, hipped
Welsh slate roof, stone stack. Single-storey, 2-window. Central
planked door with strap hinges in ovolo-moulded wooden architrave,
2-light recessed cyma-mullioned casement to right and blind
mullioned casement to left, rubble stone parapet concealing roof
pitch. Right return has partly blocked mullioned casement. Left
return has 2-light mullioned casement. Rear has single-light
cyma-moulded casement either side of stack.
Interior has chamfered beams, open fireplace with partly damaged
Tudor-arched stone lintel, bread ovens and later range. This may
have been used as a bakehouse for the main house.
