Mid C19 by T Chatfield Clarke designed as a 2 separate buildings. Eastern part
in Gothic style with arcaded front of Portland stone. 4 storeys plus 2 stone dormers
to slated roof. Ground storey has columns etc of polished granite. Entrance now
blocked. 1st floor balcony. Carved decoration and slight dressings of pink sandstone.
Corbelled cornice. Western part has rendered front in modified Italianate style.
Again, 4 main storeys but larger scale with 3 arched openings to each storey and
4 to top one above cornice. Columns to central entrance. Balcony to 2nd floor.
