Lodge. Mid C19 (but not on Tithe Map of 1842). One and a half
storeys red and black brick tiled Gothic former gate lodge facing
S. Asymmetrical S front with 3 elaborately bracketed 2-light
cusped lucarne windows, each with a gabled tiled roof with
moulded and pierced arched bargeboards projected on brackets.
Very large gabled timber porch on brick plinth, elaborate carved
and mulded bargeboard and chamfered and bracketed uprights.
Quatfi+foil pierced panels below glazing. Single-light cusped
windows with Venetian-Gothic gauged arches over, picked out in
black. Similar black bands and header motif on W gable over
canted timber bay window facing the road. Tiled roof and
racketed eaves over. Window has chamfered mullions and cusped
heads to leaded lattice lights. Heavy moulded and chip carved
bargeboard to W gable with cusped and pierced apex. Tall lateral
chimney on N side has chamfered square shafts and deep weathered
caps. A striking early C19 polychrome Gothic lodge formerly
serving Hunsdon House to S
