House, now restaurant. Probably early C16, floored and heated in C17.
Extended and refronted in late C19. Timber frame, whitewashed brick
front. Tiled roof. Originally a 2 bay open hall. 1 storey and attic.
Central entrance with key blocked and moulded segmental head. Similar
heads to large ground floor windows in reveals. 2 half dormers with
casements interrupted by a timber transom at eaves level. Bargeboarded
gables. Dentilled brick eaves. Truncated stack to right, originally
external. C19 wing to rear right with dentilled eaves and hipped roof.
Some framing exposed to rear. Interior: evidence of originally jettied
front, large inglenook, stop chamfered ground floor binding beam. Jowled
posts, curved braces to cambered tie beams. Queen strut clasped purlin
roof with curved and straight wind braces.
