Large detached dwelling. Early C18. Squared, coursed and dressed limestone, moulded
cornice and parapet, stone slate hipped roof, two ashlar stacks with moulded
cappings. A characteristic square plan, plus large 1926 extension, right. Two
storeys and attics, 3-windowed, 2-light casements with leaded glazing under segmental
heads first floor, 2-light plain casements under flat heads ground floor and central
6-panel door, part glazed, in Ionic pilaster portico with segmental pediment with
pulvinated frieze and dentil cornice approached by flight of seven flared stone steps
with wrought-iron handrail and balustrade. North face return, left, 5-windowed, as
main front, plus 2 dormers.

Interior: fine contemporary staircase with twisted balusters and swept handrail,
including 4 twisted balusters at newel positions: staircase layout modified at time
of 1926 extensions. Ground floor, left, painted panelling and contemporary fireplace,
many original panelled doors. One first floor room with beamed compartmental ceiling.

One of the Uley clothier's houses, extended in this century, but containing
substantial original work.
