SP 01 SW COLESBOURNE COLESBOURNE VILLAGE

Park

Stables. Dated 1842 on carved datestone; by David Brandon for H.
J. Elwes. Limestone ashlar with limestone tufa plinth; cross-
roll saddles to parapet gables; coved eaves with cast iron gutters
on slender brackets; plain tile roof. Central arched coachway
with room over; single-storey stable wing to either side.
Central gabled cross-wing has large chamfered 3-centred arches (the
rear one now blocked); 2-light window with hoodmould over; ribbon
datestone in gable, and 3 heraldic shields; diagonal buttresses.
3 windows and one doorway to each wing: the doorways have 4-
centred arches, and the windows are all 2-light with leaded
casements. One of a group of 3 round central courtyard.
