3/27 Village Institute and coach house

Former stables and coach house, now partly meeting hall. c1827.
Limestone tufa with dressed quoins and dressed window surrounds;
dressed gable kneelers with stepped bedding; ball finials to
gables; stone slate roof with plain tiles on reverse slope;
ashlar chimneys with simple unmoulded bands. Long block with
outshuts at back; coach house at east end; 2 stable bays, one now
with projecting porch wing. Each of the 2 stable doorways flanked
by 2 lunette windows, and one over the doorway, all with plain
surrounds. One doorway and part lunette now obscured by porch
with parapet gable and ball finial top; porch doorway has stone
lintel and dressed jamb quoins, also a window on west side.
Altered coach house doorway with 2 timber lintels supported on
central artificial stone pier; lunette window over; 3-light
recessed chamfered mullioned window to right. All lunette windows
now boarded over. Small outshuts at back are later additions.
