Coaching inn. 1827 on datestone. Limestone tufa with limestone
dressings to windows; chamfered quoins; dressed gable kneelers
with stepped bedding and cross-roll saddles; ashlar chimney shafts
with moulded caps; stone slate roof, plain tiles to reverse slope.
2-storey with attic; central projecting wing includes porch. 3
gables to front, the central brought forward; 2 windows to left of
doorway wing are 3-light on ground floor and 2-light to upper; all
recessed chamfered mullioned with hoodmoulds and leaded casements;
2-light attic window in gable. Doorway with dressed surround and
hoodmould; 2-light to upper floor and single to attic; date
shield above has initials HJE. To right of doorway wing; one
window to ground and upper floors, both 3-light; single light in
gable. Projecting chimney stack at west end with 2 shafts: one
lozenge shaped in plan, the other square and diagonally mounted.
Central wing projecting at back with hipped roof. C20 additions
at back. Built to serve the new Cheltenham - Cirencester
