Detached House.
Mid C18 with C19 canted bay windows; late C17 wing.
Coursed limestone with ashlar dressings; ashlar bay windows; stone
slate roof. Main range of two storeys with attic; central
staircase hall projecting at back; one room laterally; C19 or early
C20 outshut added at back connecting with barn; C17 wing attached
at end of main range. Main front of three windows: two C19 two-
storey canted bays, one each side of central doorway, with paired
8-pane sashes on front face and single 8-pane sash in sides,
moulded string courses and flat parapet roof; central doorway has
beaded architrave and is surmounted by a pediment with pulvinated
frieze; door has 6-fielded panels; sash window above with beaded
architrave and keystone; plain band is cut by doorway pediment and
bays; moulded eaves. Parapet end gables to C18 house with ridge
mounted ashlar chimneys with moulded caps, string courses and
skirts. Irregular fenestration to C17 wing: two 2-light chamfered
mullioned casements in upper floor. On north east side of stair
wing with hipped roof, a 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned
window with hood moulding. Interior is mainly early C19: staircase
has moulded strings and stick balusters; in principal rooms are two
simple Neo-classical stone fireplaces. Attached barn is not of
special interest.
