12/94 The Chestnuts and Chestnut Cottage


GV II

2 cottages, semi-detached. Mid C19 ashlar limestone facade with
projecting plinth, coursed, squared and dressed limestone behind
facade. Tile roof with 2 ashlar end stacks, additional stack off
centre right, all with moulded tops and skirtings. Principal gable
projecting forward slightly off centre left, flanked by 2 gabled
dormers running across eaves. 1:1:1 windowed facade: 2 and 3-light
stone mullioned casements mostly with stopped hoods. Canted bay
window in principle gable with limestone slate roof over, continued
over door surrounds which project slightly from facade. Painted,
plank doors up 3 steps. Single light right of left door.
