House. C16, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red
plain tiles. Early C16 main range facing N, with off-centre axial stack. Early
C16 crosswing (but a separate build) to right, extending to rear, with C20
external stack on right flank. Late C16 crosswing to left with central stack,
extending to rear, and single-storey lean-to extension to rear, the whole
forming a half-H plan. 2 storeys. C20 casements with oak frames and leaded
lights, irregularly arranged. Off-centre C20 oak door with iron strap hinges.
2 grouped diagonal shafts on middle stack. 4 grouped diagonal shafts on left
stack, rebuilt. Diagonal shafts on C20 right stack. Weathervane at right end
of main ridge. 2 large gabled dormers to rear. The middle range has
exceptionally large beams and joists, jointed with soffit tenons with diminished
haunches. The right wing probably formed a combined parlour/service originally.
The left wing has a contemporary stack in a chimney-bay, and formed a later
parlour. Roofs destroyed by fire in C20 and rebuilt. RCHM 5, then described as
Dungeon's Farm.
