- west and south sides of the
farmyard east of Ford Barton
GV II
2 ranges of linhays. Late C19 and part of the planned farmyard at Ford Barton.
Stone rubble with slate roofs.
Plan: 2 adjoining ranges, L plan. The west range faces the threshing barn (qv), the
rear wall backing on to the higher yard. The south range faces south into the lower
yard and also backs on to the higher yard with a covered walkway to the rear.
Exterior: The west range is a large 9-bay lofted linhay, the right hand bay enclosed,
the other bays open with stout timber posts dividing each bay. To the left there is
an entrance through the linhay into the higher yard, there is an entrance to the
covered walkway behind the south range in the right hand bay. The south range has
been built on to in the centre but has 4 bays to the left of this C20 addition, 5
bays to the right.
These ranges with the range adjoining the parish hall (qv) form 3 sides of a large
planned farmyard which formerly had a central dunghouse. The interior of the higher
yard, which they enclose, is rather altered and includes a C20 open-sided structure
built against the rear wall of the west range.
Group value with the parish hall range, the threshing barn and Ford House and Barton
House.
