Former orangery
adjoining north west of
Lyneham House

Former orangery now used as a summerhouse. Circa early C18. Red brick in Flemish
bond with flared headers. Hipped slate roof with moulded wooden eaves. One storey
and attic. 2:1:2 bays. Round arched openings with glazed doors, the centre opening
is larger and has double doors. Plat band above. Three hipped dormers with moulded
cornices. Central gable to rear incorporating large brick chimney stack and with
steps to loft door.
A photograph in the NMR of a drawing dated 1716 by Edmund Prideaux shows the orangery
and formal gardens in front. The drawing is now at Prideaux Place, Cornwall.
