Farmhouse
GV II
Barn and former horse engine house. Circa C16/17, north end possibly rebuilt in
C18/19 reusing some of the granite. Slate rubble with granite quoins. Slate roof
with half-hipped north end and gabled south end clad in corrugated iron. The east
side facing yard has large chamfered elliptically arched granite cart entrance.
There is not an opposing door on the west side. The west side has granite two-light
window with hollow chamfers and ventilation slits. Also on west side circa C18 horse
engine house with polygonal end and hipped roof. C20 lean-to cattle shelter on east
side in the yard.
The original house was destroyed by fire and this barn is one of a range of
contemporary farm buildings on three sides of a yard. The existing farm house on the
fourth (east) side was built circa late C19 or early C20 and occupies a site near
that of the original house.
