SO 4461 KINGSLAND CP LONGFORD (south side)

13/52 Longford

GV II

House. C17, with some mid-C19 alterations, restored late C20. Timber-
frame with rendered and painted brick infill and tile roof. U-plan, main
range aligned east/west with subsidiary range projecting towards street
(north). Main stack axially placed east of centre of main range with
lobby entrance against it. North front of one storey with attic lit by
casements in the gables and a framed gabled central dormer window. Ground
floor has two plus four plus two windows, mostly 2-light casements, save
for those flanking the entrance to left of centre which are of a single
light. Entrance has a C17 boarded door. Framing: three rectangular panels
high with straight angle braces. The gables each have two struts to collar
and V-struts in the apex. Interior has exposed chamfered and stopped ceil-
ing beams. The west fireplace of the main stack has an ogee mantel beam
with C17 spit rack above. To the north of it is a recess containing a stone
slab with a round lobed basin and a drain below. (RCHM, 3, p 84, no 26).
