House. Early C17, extended late C17, refronted late C18, with some mid-
C20 restoration. Timber-frame with painted brick and rendered infill on
rubble base, refronted in brick, with tile roof. T-plan, cross-wing
aligned east/west, rear wing extending to north extended in late C17. Main
stack between two bays of original rear wing. South front: two storeys,
three windows, all 3-light casements with leaded rectangular quarries and
timber sills. The two similar casements on ground floor have rubbed brick
heads. The central entrance approached by four stone steps has a broken
pediment supported on scrolled wooden brackets. Two-leaf door of four
panels with narrow overlight. Framing: four square panels high, both
gables of cross-wing jettied with chamfered bressummer on simple curved
brackets. Straight angle braces to tie-beam, the truss with five struts to
collar and V-struts in apex. Rear wing also four square panels high, the
late C17 addition, three square panels high. Interior: exposed chamfered
and stopped ceiling beams. In a fireplace of main stack there is a re-used
C14 moulded stone. (RCHM, 3, p 84, no 19).
