House. Mid C19. Coursed squared gritstone, painted; grey slate roof. 2
storeys, 3 bays. Square quoins. Central panelled door in plain surround;
flanking 16-pane sashes with margin lights in plain surrounds. Three 16-
pane sashes to first floor. Stone gutter brackets; kneeler and gable
coping to left; end stacks. Interior not inspected at resurvey. The
masonry is similar to that at the Count house (q.v.) and the 2 buildings
are probably part of the development of the lead mining industry in the mid
C19 - Yarnbury Lodge being the home of Captain Barratt or Stephen Eddy, the
Duke of Devonshire's mineral agents at that time. Production of lead
peaked in 1850, declining rapidly 1857-77, the end of underground mining in
