7/3 The Pound Farmhouse

19.8.53

- II*

Farmhouse. C15, or possibly earlier, completely refaced during late C19.
Timber-framed core refaced with sandstone rubble. C20 tiled roof. Probable
four-bay hall house aligned south-west/north-east with two axial stacks and
entrance to north-eastern end of south-east front. Two storeys. South-east
front: three 3-light casement windows, those on the ground floor with cambered
heads, ledged door to right. Interior inaccessible at time of re-survey but
said to retain five cruck trusses which remain largely intact with curved
bracing below the collars and cusped decorative members above. One bay is
still open to the roof. (RCHM, Vol III, p 95).
