2/21 The Old Rectory

House. C16 core extended to form a mainly C19 house in the Gothick style.
Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay crosswing
aligned approx. NW-SE, C16, with internal chimney stack on NE side, of a former
hall house to the NE. Timber-framed range on the original site, and a second
crosswing with 2 internal chimney stacks, C18/C19. 2-storey brick extensions
to NW of original crosswing, with 2 internal chimney stacks, and in N angle,
late C19. Porch to SW. 2 storeys and attics. SE elevation, 2 Gothick french
windows with moulded labels, 2 Gothick sashes of 4-8-2 lights. First floor,
2 casements with moulded labels, 2 projecting casements supported on brackets,
with gabled hoods cutting eaves line, all C19. Moulded bands on gables.
Grouped diagonal shafts. The main door is on the SW side, half-glazed with
8 lights and 2-centred tracery, in a 2-storey porch with 4-centred arches on
3 sides, and one first-floor sash of 9 lights with moulded label. The interior
of the SW wing has a binding beam with deep chamfers, and exposed joists of
wide section with narrower spaces between, and evidence of an underbuilt jetty.
