House, C18, altered in C20, retaining remnants of C17 house. Timber framed,
plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2 parallel ranges aligned NE-SW
with central corridor on each floor. One axial chimney stack in each range.
2 storeys. Central glazed door with open pediment, C20, and 2 splayed bays
each of 3 double-hung sash windows of 12-16-12 lights, one of which is C18,
the other C20 reproduction. On first floor, 2 double-hung sash windows of 12
lights, C18. Hipped roof. Symmetrical elevation. The NE (rear) elevation
has 2 C18 windows each of one wrought iron casement and 2 fixed lights, with
C20 leading. The interior has plain-chamfered axial beams with simple concave
stops in each range, partly boxed in. The large chimney stack in the NW range
is of early C17 construction, with replaced mantel beam. There are some timbers
in the roof re-used from an earlier house. The bobbin-turned balusters of the
staircase are C17. Moated site.
