Hunt kennels and house, 1810, James Wyatt. Yellow brick with
ashlar and brick dressings, slate hipped roofs with lead
dressings, having a central apex stack. Courtyard plan with main
3 part front linked by single storey blocks with raised square
blocks at the rear angles. The central block is a house of 2
storeys with a 3 bay front, plinth, first floor band and moulded
cornice. Central 6 panelled door with traceried fanlight,
covered by a C19 planked wooden porch. The door is flanked by
single semi circular headed glazing bar sash windows set in
concentric headed recesses. 3 first floor windows are small
glazing bar sashes with flat splayed brick arches. To either
side of the main block are 2 window bays, to the right are 2
square hinged lights and to the left a segmental headed glazing
bar sash with beyond a single small hinged light. The end blocks
are raised and rusticated with brick bands and blind arches at
the centre, topped by cornices. Behind the main front are 3
hound lodges with yards and a rear range now used for food
preparation. The north east angle tower was originally used for
kennel servants' accommodation. In front of the kennels are
continuous railings on a low stone plinth.
