Cottage. Early C18 restored late C20. Timber framed lathe and plaster
rendered with steeply pitched tiled roof, originally thatched. Early C18 red
brick stack at right angles to the ridge. Single range and three bay plan
with lobby entry. One storey and attic. Two dormers, one gabled. Three
casements and door, all late C20. Inside: Inglenook hearth of red brick with
stop chamfered lintel. Original staircase at side of stack. Some inserted
framing in front wall, but the scantling of this late C17 or early C18
framing can be compared with the earlier heavier framing at No. 2, 4 Little
Lane, Melbourn (q.v. and the later lighter framing at No. 43, 45 High Street,
Melbourn (q.v.). In 1842 the cottage was owned by James Dickason and
occupied by Joseph Dickinson junr.
