Terrace of 16 houses. Late C18. For Earl of Crawford and
Balcarres. Dressed stone with tile roof. 2 storeys, one bay
to each house, but No. 1 of 3 bays. Windows and entrances
have plain surrounds and C20 2-light casements and 6-
fielded-panelled doors. Stone and brick cross-axial stacks.
End house has coped gable, gable-end stack, and head to one
kneeler. No. 1 has small outshut; entrance to rear is round-
headed, with flat pilasters, impost band, archivolt and 2-
panel door; rendered gable-end wall and felted slate roof.
An interesting example of early workers' housing, built for
colliers.
