Terrace of workers houses 1830. Coal measure sandstone with modern
tile roof to front and original slate roof to rear slope. Six single
bay double depth two storey cottages. Coursed squared rubble. Window
with canted head to each floor, 12 pane cross casements of which five
are original. Door to right of which 2 are original plank, others
with inset glazing etc. Coped verges. 6 brick stacks. Rear elevation
has 2 light casements below, 3 above of which a number are original.
Built for the Earl of Crawford and Balcearres as workers' housing,
possibly for the Haigh Sawmills. An early example of workers' housing
in the area.
