Description

FENITON
SY 19 NW
7/73 Stone Cottage including front
- garden walls adjoining to the
north-east
GV II

Cottage. Probably mid C19. Coursed blocks of dressed flint; stone and brick stacks
topped with C20 brick; slate roof.
Plan: 2-room central staircase plan cottage facing north-east. The rooms are
heated by end stacks.
2 storeys.
Exterior: symmetrical 3-window front of original casements with glazing bars. The
outer bays have 3-light casements whilst the first floor centre window is 2 light.
All have flat arches over with projecting keystones. So too does the central
doorway which contains a C19 part-glazed 6-panel door. Roof is gable-ended to right
and to left continues over the adjoining cottage.
Interior: not inspected although original joinery and other detail is suspected
since the original front is so little altered.
The small front garden is enclosed by a low wall contemporary with the house. It
too is built of flint and includes square section front gate posts with low pyramid
caps.
Feniton is an attractive little village containing a good group of listed buildings.
