7/11 The Manse
GV II
House. c1820. Built as the manse to the Zion United Reformed Church,
Cottingham, which adjoins it to the east. White brick, stone dressings,
slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays in symmetrical elevation. Plinth. 4 panel
door with overlight in panelled reveals and soffit in pilastered doorcase,
flanked to right and to left by sashes with glazing bars and sills under
cambered wedge lintels with alternate raised segments. First-floor sill
band: 3 similar windows to first floor. Hipped roof, rear wall and ridge
stacks. Interior: early C19 cut string stair with heavy turned newel, stick
balusters, and slender handrail.
