House. 1834, for John Hebblewhite. Ashlar to main elevation, white brick
to sides and rear, stone dressings, cast tile roof. Main range of 2
storeys, 3 bays, with single-bay 2-storey pedimented cross wings.
Rusticated quoins, moulded plinth. Central glazed and panelled door with
overlight with vertical glazing in Greek unfluted Doric porch flanked to
right and to left by wide, full-height, tripartite openings with margin-pane
glazing, and each with pilasters, frieze, cornice and blocking course.
First floor: moulded sill band to three 2-light casements with margin-pane
glazing in eared architraves. Moulded band beneath mutule cornice with
blocking course. Cross wings: each with 2-light French windows with margin-
pane glazing in architrave under segmental pediment carried on consoles, the
tympanum decorated with carved foliage and shields. First-floor sill band
to 2-light casements with margin-pane glazing in eared architraves. Mutule
cornice and pediment to each wing. Axial stacks. Hipped roof.
