Pair of semi-detached estate cottages. Circa 1900. Probably by
Romaine Walker for Mr. Robert Hudson of Danesfield. Lower storey of red
brick in English bond with dentil string arched over doors, and
battered buttresses flanking front; upper storey rendered and colourwashed;
half-hipped plain tile roof; central brick chimney with off-set cap.
One storey and attic, 2 bays. Ground floor has 4-light barred wooden
casements with leaded top-lights, chamfered and off-set brick sills,
and stop-chamfered wooden lintels. Attic has 3-light barred wooden
casements in gabled dormers with richly carved and cusped bargeboards.
Board doors to left and right, with moulded brick surrounds and
semi-circular brick arches over painted terracotta tympana of local
Medmenham ware. Tympana illustrate labours of the months November and
December, No. 11 showing ploughing, No. 12 digging.
