House and barn. 1785. Roughcast walls with eaves cornice and angle pilasters,
under graduated greenslate roof with brick chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 4 bays
and right barn under common roof. C19 glazed and panelled door, up steps, in
stone pedimented surround. Sash windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds.
Barn has plain front wall. Right return wall of barn has plank door and loft
door above. Rear has plank doors and vented windows. Interior plaque is
inscribed THIS HOUSE AND ESTATE WERE DEVISED TO THE NATIONAL TRUST BY THE
REV DANIEL HARRISON 1862-1940 THE LAST OF THE HARRISONS OF DUNTHWAITE. THE
FAMILY LIVED HERE FROM 1696 AND REBUILT THE HOUSE IN 1785. Interior has
panelled doors and panelled window shutters. C19 cast iron fireplaces. Ground-
floor rooms have C19 moulded plaster ceilings.
