Detached house and adjoining cottage, all one property, set back
from road. Early C18. Brick front on rubble stone with
alternating flush quoins on stone plinth with offset, steep slate
roof with moulded wood frieze and eaves cornice arid large dentil
blocks, stone end stacks, external to right, with diagonally set
brick flues, rebuilt on left end with end wall in stone faced
blocks. Single main range of 2 storeys and attic with rear outshut
and 2-storey adjoining cottage range to right with small front
extension in stone and brick. Three windows, 16-pane sashes in
flush moulded stone surrounds. Ground floor has 2 similar with
continuous stone dripmould. Central doorcase with moulded stone
flat Tudor arch, moulded capitals and stopped jambs with oval
lattice window in stone frame over. Six-panel door, central pair
glazed, upper and lower pairs fielded in decorative shapes -
ellipse at top, rectangular with convex corners at base - in
typical Lechlade design. Early C19 decorative timberwork porch
with swept roof. Two gabled dormers with 6-pane sashes and moulded
wood architraves. Cottage wing to right has 2 first floor windows
similar to main house with remains of decorative projecting brick
course halfway up. Sixteen-pane sash with timber lintel to right
on ground floor, semi-circular flush stone doorcase to left with
decorative radial fanlight and similar door to main house, with all
wood panels, and with dripmould continued from house at same level.
Small front extension has similar door, renewed, in moulded wood
surround. Cottage wing has large lateral diagonal brick stack to
rear, and external stone stack to right with diagonally set brick
flue.
