Country House. Late C18 restored 1979 by John Newton. Brick with moulded
stone cornice string. Parapet with stone coping to tile hipped roof. 2
storeys attic and basement. North front: 3 bays, the centre bay pedimented
with bulls eye window with glazing bars in tympanum, sash windows with
glazing bars. Central 6 panelled entrance door, arched radiating and
curved fanlight in surround of engaged Ionic columns, entablature and pediment
approached by a flight of 6 stone steps with iron balustrade and handrail.
Flanking this font on the return faces facing east and west are angular bays
the whole height with parapet carried round, each with 3 sash windows with
glazing bars. Later extensions at rear. B.O.E. (Berkshire) p.258.
