2/27 Upper Milton End Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Probably mid/late C16 core, extended in late C18 and
again in C19. Core of nearly square panel timber-framing on tall
claystone plinth with mostly brick, some rendered infill.
Remainder in brick with concrete tile roof and large central brick
ridge stack with C19 oversailing courses. Main range of 2 storeys
and attic runs nearly east/west, extended to east in C18 and to
south east in C19, with projecting gabled wing to north now faced
in brick with rendered plinth and boarded gable which may also be
timber-framed and contemporary with core. Single storey corner
section to north east probably of C20. West gable end has boarded
gable, and 2 windows of C20 including in original blocked doorway.
Diagonal brace to north side. Timber-framed core projects to east
side of stack. East side has C20 casements with segmental heads,
those in C19 section to left having brick arches in different
colour brick. Blind window in attic gable end to east.
