2/18 Rectory Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Probably C17, largely rebuilt in C19. Brick
(repointed), concrete tile roof, originally brick end stack to
right and external to left, now incorporated in C20 extension.
Single range with 2 large cross gables of 2 storeys and attic,
small single storey section to right, and 2-storey wing of C20 to
left not of special interest. Three windows, 3/2/3-light stone
mullions with square hoodmoulds, all apparently of C19, with leaded
casements (some C20 repairs to stone mullions). Attics have paired
wooden casements. Ground floor has similar 3-light to each side of
central entrance with gabled open porch hood on struts with curved
barge board and C20 door and flanking single stone lights with
square hoodmould. Similar fenestration to rear. Two-course brick
string between ground and first floors. Ground floor rooms to each
side of hall have chamfered and stopped beams and room to left has
large fireplace with renewed timber bressumer.
