Description

ARLINGHAM CHURCH ROAD
SO 71 SW
(east side)
2/6 Barn at Westend Farm
II
Large barn. Mid C19, said to have been built during Crimean War.
Brick, slate roof, west side has 2 large double-tiered double
timber doors. To each side of each pair of doors are 2 pierced
brick diamond shapes, with in addition 2 long ventilator slits on
inner side of each pair. Two cambered head doors between also.
Ends have series of plain slits and pitch hole, boarded to south
with round owl hole in apex. Similar east side. Ten bays, with
central brick partition wall and with central bay of each side five
larger. King post trusses in very good condition. This is a
large and prominent barn, and a good example of a type common to
this area.
