Little Horsepools
GV II
Detached house, one of a pair. Mid to late C19. Limestone ashlar, concrete
tile roof to coped gables. Long rectangular plan with gabled return to left,
and deep cross-gabled wing right rear. Two storeys, attic, and part basement.
One + 3 windows, 12-pane sashes, but 9-pane to gable; flat band at base of gable
continues as eaves band. At ground floor, to right of C20 glazed door under
flat hood is flat-roofed canted bay with 8:16:8-pane sashes. Return, right has
a 2-light casement over two 12-pane sashes over door. Main front also has, to
right, 16-pane sash and a blocked elliptical opening. To right-hand gable a
chimney stack in concrete block, and at ridge, to left of door position, on
ashlar stack. Interior not inspected. One of a pair of rather grand houses
with Horsepools House (qv), little altered to the view from the road.
