ROYAL AND FOUNTAINS

5/45 Old Slaughterhouse, with
clock face and mechanism,
approximately 10 metres
east of Lindrick Gate

Outbuilding with clock. Late C18. Probably for William Aislabie of Studley
Park. Rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings, pantile roof. 2 storeys, 3
bays, left bay recessed under continuous eaves line. Left bay - blocked
cart entrance with wooden lintel and wide board door under segmental arch of
well-tooled voussoirs. 2 bays to right - wide doorway similar to left bay
flanked by 3-light window (left) and square boarded opening (right).
Shuttered window or small loading door above. Hipped roof. Left return:
two-faced clock, in gable, removed from remains of stable yard to Studley
Royal House c1970. Mechanism intact (W T C Walker, personal communication).
Interior: ground floor of left bay still used as a butchery at deer culling.
