Farmhouse. Mid C18 with earlier remains and mid C19 alterations. Coursed
squared limestone rubble, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, the central
bay projecting slightly. Quoins. C20 glazed double door far right. 16-
pane sash windows with sawn stone sills and lintels throughout, apart from
ground-floor left which has a cambered keyed lintel. Central and left bays
show earlier openings, now blocked, with quoined jambs, thin sills and
cambered keyed lintels. Shaped kneelers, gable copings, stacks to each end
and flanking central bay. Rear: 3-light chamfered mullion window lighting
cellar, left. Interior: front room, left, has large fireplace with mantel
beam against central room. Exposed beams have plain chamfers. The building
is on the site of a grange of Fountains Abbey.
