House. C17, rebuilt and resited in 1900. Coursed squared stone, ashlar
with graduated stone slate roof. Single storey with attics, 3 bays. To
right of central bay a C20 board door in C20 chamfered 4-centred arch
surround. Central bay breaks forward from left-hand bay and is gabled, 8-
light chamfered mullioned and transom window with continuous hoodmould.
Right-hand bay is also gabled and breaks forward from central bay, 6-light
chamfered mullioned and transom window with hoodmould. To left-hand bay
similar window with a small chamfered window to right. Above: 2 double
chamfered 5-light mullioned windows in gables with hoodmoulds. Stone
coping, 2 ridge stacks. Interior: in main room some C17 panelling and
large C17 four-centred arched stone fireplace. The original C17 building,
Gouthwaite White Hall, was moved up from the valley during the building of
Gouthwaite Reservoir and rebuilt as 2 houses. See Gouthwaite Farmhouse.
