Semi-detached houses, formerly a single dwelling. Dated 1676, greatly
extended and altered in late C19. Coursed squared gritstone, purple slate
roof. 2 storeys. Original house 3 bays with lobby-entrance plan, now 2
houses of 2 bays each: the left bay now part of Rowden House, the remainder
belonging to Grove House. Quoins to right. South front: C20 glazed door
between bays 1 and 2 of the original house with moulded quoined jambs and a
triangular soffit to the lintel which has the inscription, "1676 SB".
Recessed chamfered mullion windows to ground floor of 3, 3 and 4 lights;
flat-faced mullion windows of 1 and 2 lights to first floor. Large stack
with 2 flues to ridge left of entrance, on the division of the 2 properties;
banded end stacks. Rear (to road) C19 fenestration, not of special
interest.
