House. Probably C16 with alterations and additions C18 and C19 and
restoration begun 1979. Rubble, rendered on south front, stone slate roof.
2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. 4-panel door to right of centre, in
chamfered quoined surround with lintel inscribed 'I'. Flanking and first-

floor: C20 side-sliding sashes, in chamfered surrounds and plain lintels.
End and central stacks. Rear: continuous outshut; windows and door restorer
C20 in original openings. C20 dormers. Right return: shallow pointed arch
to door into outshut; 2-light windows restored 1980, loading door in gable,
left. Interior: early features of the house include 2 spiral stairs built
into the thickness of the internal longitudinal wall and a large stone
fireplace with chamfered voussoirs on the rear wall of the front room,
right. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group,
